season abandoned after three rounds of matches due to THE outbreak of ww2.

On the 1st September 1939, Germany invaded Poland and war was declared on the 3rd September.  Large gatherings of crowds were suspended by the Emergency Powers Act and the Football League was abandoned after three rounds of matches.  The matches played were expunged from club's records and players were not credited with appearances or goals.
