It's a season of consolidation for Wednesday, but with the team 8th in the League in mid February, a play-off push looks possible. However a run of five successive home defeats dashes that idea and the season peters out with a mid-table finish. With only six home League wins all season, only one Championship side have a worse home record than Wednesday. Wednesday's away form however is 5th best in the division with nine away wins. Wednesday win 24 points from losing positions, which is more than any other Premier League or Football League clubs. Sadly the season ends on a sour note as "cashflow problems" mean players and staff are paid late in March and May.
In the FA Cup, Wednesday lose to Coventry City on penalties in the 3rd round.
In the EFL Cup, Wednesday beat Hull City, League Two Grimsby Town and League One Blackpool before losing to Premier League Brentford on penalties in the 4th round.
