WEDNESDAY ARE PROMOTED TO THE 1ST DIVISION (TIER 1) AND WIN THE EFL CUP FOR THE 1ST (AND ONLY) TIME in their history.

In a fantastic season for the Owls, they achieve promotion at the first attempt and win the EFL Cup, famously beating 1st Division giants Manchester United 1-0 at Wembley.  It proves to be Wednesday's last trophy to date.  In Wednesday's run to the final they beat 1st Division teams Derby County, Coventry City and Chelsea, who they beat in both legs of the semi-final.

Unfortunately Wednesday are dumped out of the FA Cup at the 5th round stage by 3rd Division (tier 3) Cambridge United.  Dion Dublin scores twice as they rout the Owls 4-0 at the Abbey Stadium.
