Wednesday are relegated to the 2nd Division (tier 2).

With a fantastic team on paper, Wednesday are considered by many to be "too good to go down".  Despite being bottom of the League until late November, the signing of John Sheridan, Phil King and Roland Nilsson helps and results improve.  Wednesday are 13th in the League with six matches to go, but incredibly lose five of them and are relegated on the last day of the season on goal difference.  Wednesday's goal difference is just two goals inferior to Luton Town's.

Wednesday's 8-0 win at Aldershot in the EFL Cup is their biggest away win in all competitions and is I believe the biggest ever away win in the EFL Cup.

Wednesday beat Sheffield United 3-2 after extra time in the Full Members Cup before a remarkable crowd of over 30,000 at Hillsborough, John Sheridan scoring his first Wednesday goal.
