David Pleat's first season as Wednesday manager is a disappointing one as they end the season with just four wins from the last seventeen matches and finish in 15th place, just two points above the relegation zone.

Wednesday disappointingly lose to Division 1 (tier 2) Charlton Athletic in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

Wednesday play in the Intertoto Cup for the 1st time, but do not progress beyond the group stage.  Both home matches in the competition are played at Millmoor, Rotherham.
