Wednesday win the FA Cup for the 1st time in their history.  The FA Cup is a new one as the old one won by Aston Villa was stolen from a Birmingham shop, where it was put on display, so Wednesday are the first winners of the second FA Cup.

In an average season for Wednesday, they finish 7th in the League.  Clearly they save their best form for the FA Cup.

In their run to the final, Wednesday beat Southern League Southampton in the 1st round.  It's the first meeting between the clubs and Wednesday's only visit to the Antelope Ground.  They also beat 1st Division teams Sunderland, Everton and Bolton Wanderers, who they beat in the semi-final replay at Trent Bridge, Nottingham after the first match at Goodison Park, Liverpool was a draw.

In the final, Wednesday beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 in front of 48,836 spectators at Crystal Palace.
