SEASON DETAIL - 1904-1905

Wednesday win the Sheriff of London Charity Shield.

After winning the Football League two seasons running, Wednesday get off to a flyer, winning the first seven matches.  Unfortunately that's as good as it gets and subsequent indifferent form sees Wednesday finish in a very disappointing 9th place.

In the FA Cup, Wednesday reach the semi-final for the second season running, losing to eventual Champions Newcastle United at Hyde Road, Manchester.  Along the way they beat Southern League Portsmouth in the 2nd round, in the first meeting between the clubs.

As Football League Champions, Wednesday take part in the Sheriff Of London Charity Shield, the fore-runner of the FA Charity Shield.  The match is played between the best amateur (Corinthian) and the best professional club (The Wednesday) in England, Wednesday running out 2-1 winners at Crystal Palace.
