After finishing in 8th the previous season, Wednesday go backwards with a 14th place finish.  It's an inconsistent season but ultimately it's the away form that results in a below average season with just three wins and thirteen defeats.

In the FA Cup Wednesday beat Manchester United in the 3rd round before losing to local rivals 1st Division Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in the 4th round.  United go on to win the FA Cup, beating Cardiff City in the final.  It's their last major trophy in over a hundred years.
