Season DETAIL - 1935-1936

As FA Cup winners, Wednesday take part in and win the FA Charity Shield.

After winning the FA Cup the previous season it's a very inconsistent season for Wednesday.  A run of just two wins in 10 matches sees them drop to 18th by Boxing Day, although an improvement in form sees them in 13th place in early March.  However one win in the final eight matches sees them finish the season in 20th position, just three points above Aston Villa who are relegated along with Blackburn Rovers.

It's a very disappointing FA Cup campaign this time around as Wednesday need a replay to get past 3rd Division Crewe Alexandra, before being knocked out in the 4th round by 2nd Division Newcastle United, again after a replay.  Wednesday do however win the FA Charity Shield, beating Football League Champions Arsenal on their own Highbury ground.
