SEASON DETAIL - 1920-1921

After being relegated and the subsequent resignation of Arthur Dickinson the previous season, Wednesday appoint Bob Brown as their first "proper" manager, with full responsibility for picking the team.  After a decent start with two defeats in the first nine matches, Wednesday go on a terrible run of one win in fifteen to leave them in 20th by mid November.  However, a terrific run of one defeat in the final fifteen matches sees them finish in a respectable 10th place.

In the FA Cup Wednesday go out in the 2nd round, losing to 1st Division Everton at Hillsborough after a draw at Goodison Park.

With Wednesday not having played in the 2nd Division since 1899-1900, they play a number of teams they have not met before in a first class fixture.  These are:  Cardiff City, Fulham, Gateshead (South Shields), Hull City, Leeds United, Leyton Orient, Rotherham United, Stockport County and West Ham United.
