For the second season in a row, Wednesday blow a good chance of promotion with a poor run-in.  Wednesday are challenging for promotion all season, and a run of one defeat in ten matches sees them 3rd with five matches to go.  Unfortunately Wednesday lose two and draw two and despite beating Norwich City in the final match it's Norwich who are promoted and Wednesday miss out by two points in 4th place.

In the FA Cup Wednesday are beaten in the 3rd round by 1st Division Coventry City.

In the EFL Cup Wednesday are beaten over two legs by Blackburn Rovers in the 2nd round.
