After being relegated to the 3rd Division for the first time, Wednesday desperately struggle again and Steve Burtenshaw - arguably Wednesday's worst ever manager - is sacked after eight matches.  Len Ashurst is appointed but Wednesday still struggle and need to win the last match of the season to avoid relegation to the 4th Division.  Thankfully Wednesday beat Southend United 2-1 and it is them who are relegated.  Wednesday have never played in the 4th tier of the Football League.
