Wednesday are Football League Champions for the 2nd season running and the 4th (and last) time in their history.  From the start of this season Wednesday play under the name of "Sheffield Wednesday Football Club" after changing from "The Wednesday Football Club" in the close season.

The reigning Champions take a little time to get into their stride, dropping five points in the first four home matches but they remain unbeaten at home the rest of the season and only lose six away matches to finish with sixty points, equalling the record points total set by West Bromwich Albion in 1919-1920 and Liverpool in 1922-1923.  Wednesday create a new record of 105 League goals for the season, beating West Browmwich Albion's total of 104 also set in 1919-1920.

In the FA Cup Wednesday are robbed of a place in the final by some terrible refereeing decisions in the semi-final against Huddersfield town.
