Season DETAIL - 1929-1930

Wednesday are Football League champions for the 2nd season running and the 4th (and final) time in their history.  Wednesday change their name from "The Wednesday Football Club" to "Sheffield Wednesday Football Club" in the summer of 1929.

The reigning Champions take a little time to get into their stride, dropping five points in the first four home matches but they remain unbeaten at home the rest of the season and only lose six away matches to finish with sixty points, equalling the record points total set by West Bromwich Albion in 1919-1920 and Liverpool in 1922-1923.  Wednesday create a new record of 105 League goals for the season, beating West Browmwich Albion's total of 104 also set in 1919-1920.
