An inconsistent start to the season sees Wednesday struggling at the wrong end of the table by Christmas.  However the signings of Marr Paterson, Jimmy Campbell and Davie McLean help Wednesday to go on a run of one defeat in the final thirteen matches and a respectable 6th place finish.

For the second season running Wednesday are embarrasingly dumped out of the FA Cup in the 1st round by non-League opposition at Hillsborough, losing 2-1 to Southern League Coventry City in the first ever meeting between the two clubs.
