Season DETAIL - 2009-2010

Wednesday are relegated to League One (Tier 3).

The 2009-10 season sees Wednesday struggling again and after a winless run of nine matches including seven defeats, Brian Laws is sacked with Wednesday 22nd in the league. Alan Irvine is appointed manager but after a reasonable start to his tenure, Wednesday continue to struggle and win just once in the last ten matches.  Even so, a win in the final match of the season will save them but a 2-2 draw over relegation rivals Crystal Palace sees Wednesday relegated to League One and Palace stay up in 21st place.

Wednesday are knocked out of the FA Cup at the 3rd round stage by Crystal Palace and are dumped out of the EFL Cup in round 2 by League Two (tier 4) Port Vale.
