Wednesday have an excellent first half of the season and are top for most of October and November but by April they have slipped to 6th place.  A decent finish sees them finish in 3rd, seven points behind Champions Liverpool.

In the FA Cup, Wednesday beat Western League teams Bristol Rovers and Millwall in the 1st and 2nd rounds in Wednesday's first meeting between both clubs.  Wednesday beat Nottingham Forest in the 3rd round before losing to Everton at Goodison Park in the 4th round.
