Season DETAIL - 1950-1951

Wednesday are relegated to the 2nd Division (Tier 2).

After gaining promotion the previous season, Wednesday immediately go back down to the 2nd Division.  A terrible run sends them bottom by Christmas and in a desperate bid to avoid relegation Wednesday pay a British record transfer fee to sign striker Jackie Sewell in mid March.  Results improve but despite winning four of the last five matches and beating Everton 6-0 in the final match, Wednesday are relegated on goal average.  Wednesday's goal average is just 0.044 of a goal worse than Chelsea's, who put four goals past the Owls in the opening match of the season.  The bottom three in the division all finish on 32 points.
