After finishing seventh two seasons running this season is a disappointment.  Wednesday end the season with just 3 wins from the last fifteen matches and finish in 13th place.  Manager Trevor Francis is somewhat harshly sacked at the end of the season by chairman Dave Richards.

Wednesday are knocked out of the FA Cup 4th round by Division 1 (tier 2) Wolves after a replay and penalties.
