After finishing seventh two seasons running this season is a disappointment.  An inconsistent start sees Wednesday as low as 17th, but an eight match unbeaten run sees them climb as high as 7th.  Unfortunately Wednesday end the season with just three wins from the last fifteen matches and finish in 13th place.  Manager Trevor Francis is somewhat harshly sacked at the end of the season by chairman Dave Richards.

Wednesday are knocked out of the FA Cup 4th round by Division 1 (tier 2) Wolves after a replay and penalties.
