Wednesday are Football League Champions for the 3rd time in their history.  Wednesday change their name from "The Wednesday Football Club" to "Sheffield Wednesday Football Club" in the summer of 1929.

After the so called "great escape" season, where Wednesday look certain to be relegated with ten matches of the season to go, Wednesday's home form wins them the Football League Championship with eighteen wins, three draws and no defeats in their twenty one home matches.  In contrast the away form is just three wins and seven draws but it is enough for Wednesday to clinch the title by a point from Leicester City.

In the FA Cup Wednesday beat 3rd Division Wigan Borough in the 3rd round but disapointingly lose to 2nd Division Reading at a packed Elm Park.
