The season starts well with Wednesday in 3rd after four matches but two wins in the following seventeen matches see them drop to 14th by mid December.  Wednesday struggle to find consistency in the second half of the season and finish in mid-table.

Six seasons since it's inauguration, Wednesday finally enter the Football League Cup (now EFL Cup) for the first time losing to 2nd Division Rotherham United at Hillsborough in the 2nd round.
