A poor start to the season sees Wednesday bottom of the League in September.  However a run of one defeat in sixteen matches sees them climb to 2nd by early March.  Five defeats in the last nine matches results in a disappointing 5th place finish.

In the FA Cup Wednesday are defeated by Middlesbrough at Hillsborough in the 1st round after getting a draw at Ayresome Park.
