Wednesday win the FA Cup for the 3rd (and final) time in their history.
In an excellent season for Wednesday they finish 3rd in the Football League and win the FA Cup for the 3rd and final time.
In the League Wednesday are the only club in the division who remain unbeaten at home, winning fourteen matches and drawing seven. The indifferent away form is why Wednesday finish 3rd and not Champions as they only win four matches, losing eleven. No doubt Wednesday's magnificent cup run has an effect on League form too.
In the FA Cup it's Wednesday's 50th campaign. Wednesday beat 2nd Division Oldham Athletic in the 3rd round, win away at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 4th round, win away again at 2nd Division Norwich City in the 5th round and beat eventual Champions Arsenal in the 5th round. The semi-final is played at Villa Park, Birmingham and Wednesday once again beat 2nd Division opposition in Burnley. The final at Wembley Stadium sees Wednesday as underdogs, despite League positions but Wednesday run out 4-2 winners after scoring two late goals. Incidentally Ellis Rimmer scores in every round including the final. Goalie Jack Brown is undoubtably Wednesday's best player with some magnificent performances in the cup run.
