After a poor start to the season which sees Wednesday win just once in the first twelve matches and in the relegation zone, Wednesday lose just three of the next fourteen matches to climb to 9th place by early February.  Five consecutive defeats follow, but Wednesday lose just once in the last nine matches to finish the season in mid-table.

Wednesday's 3rd round FA Cup tie with Everton goes to four matches with Everton eventually winning 5-0 after three 1-1 draws.

Wednesday reach the 5th round of the EFL Cup, beating neighbours Barnsley in the 3rd round before losing to Arsenal at Hillsborough.
