Season DETAIL - 2005-2006

After gaining promotion the previous season, Wednesday struggle at a higher level flirting with the relegation zone most of the season.  However despite finishing just 19th, Wednesday are 10 points above the bottom three, who finish with the extremely low points totals of 42 (Crewe Alexandra), 40 (Millwall) and 38 (Brighton & Hove Albion).  Despite the struggle, chairman Dave Allen keeps faith with Paul Sturrock, who led Wednesday to promotion in the play-off final at Cardiff.

Wednesday are knocked out of both the FA Cup and EFL Cup by Premier League teams Charlton Athletic and West Ham United respectively.
